Peťuša Castle

Small is nice. I was a small castle and my place was above the left bank of the River Hron near Zvolen. All the time I peered at Pustý Castle which I had in my sights during all my, albeit very short, existence. My main task was to guard Ostrá Lúka toll station and at the same time I took care of the military garrison which settled down with me.

I was built in the 13th century, the 14th and 15th centuries were happy times for me and in the 16th century the inhabitants left me and I ceased to exist. Today, however, you can observe relief remains of my walls. A lead merchant seal was found at Peťuša Castle which marked a roll of high-quality linen fabric originating directly from Venice. This has no equivalent in Central Europe.

How do you get there?

An approximately 1.5 km long hiking trail from Červený medokýš leads to Peťuša Castle. However, you can also get there along the River Hron, on the path which at the end rises steeply to the castle.
